POST 1 - INTRODUCTION - THAITIANA DOZIER

My name is Thaitiana Isabel Dozier, and I am an artist with a passion for storytelling, fantasy, and sci-fi. I’m currently working toward my BFA in Illustration. Growing up, I found solace in cartoons, comics, and video games—especially Final Fantasy, which drew me in with its rich characters and expansive worlds. These experiences fueled my imagination and inspired me to craft my own characters and narratives. They introduced me to the power of storytelling—not just as a form of entertainment but as a means to evoke emotion, create connections, and spark thought-provoking questions.

My focus lies in digital media, where I bring my characters and worlds to life through immersive storytelling and rich visuals. Mythology plays a significant role in my work, with its timeless archetypes and themes allowing me to explore universal emotions and ideas that feel both imaginative and deeply human. While digital art is my primary medium, I’ve recently developed a growing interest in ceramics, drawn to its ability to explore form and texture in a tangible way. I aim to create pieces that serve as windows into larger worlds—inviting viewers to wonder about the stories behind them.

My artistic influences include Yoshitaka Amano, George Kamitani, and Gekidan Inu Curry. Amano’s designs exude a sense of mysticism, bordering on the ethereal. Kamitani’s vibrant environments and character designs feel as though they could leap straight from the pages of a storybook. More recently, I’ve been drawn to Gekidan Inu Curry’s unconventional and bold experimental approach to art. Each of these artists pushes me to expand my creative boundaries.

Fantasy and sci-fi shape much of my artistic vision, allowing me to explore vast, imaginative worlds while addressing complex themes such as identity, transformation, and humanity’s relationship with technology and the unknown. Mythology also influences my work, as I weave archetypes and symbols into my stories and character designs. These combined inspirations fuel my passion for creating immersive art that tells a story and resonates emotionally with viewers.

One of my ultimate goals as an artist is to create my own comics—bringing my characters and worlds to life in intricate detail. Through my work, I want to transport audiences into these worlds, allowing them to experience the same sense of wonder and connection that inspires me.

I find this quote particularly inspiring:

"Photographs really are experience captured, and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquisitive mood."

It reminds me that, as an artist, I’m not just creating images but capturing fragments of experience—moments that can evoke powerful emotions in viewers. This idea motivates me to create work that feels alive and rich with meaning, where every piece holds its own story.

Another quote that resonates with me is:

"To photograph is to appropriate the thing photographed. It means putting oneself into a certain relation to the world that feels like knowledge—and therefore, like power."

This aligns with how I see the transformative role of art. Creating art allows me to interpret and engage with the world on my own terms, infusing my work with emotions and narratives that I wish to explore. It’s not just about replicating reality but reshaping it—inviting thought, wonder, and connection.
