POST 2 - INFLUENCES IN ART PRACTICE: Corine Etienne


1. Who are the 5+ artists you chose 

- Barry McGee (Graffiti and street artist)  

- Jordan Casteel (Painter focusing on community and portraiture)  

- Tanya Aguiñiga (Textile artist exploring identity and border culture)  

- John Lasseter (Animator and filmmaker, known for Pixar)  

- J.G. Quintel (Animator, creator of Regular Show)  


2. What were 5+ themes the artists addressed about making work?

- Community & Identity – Jordan Casteel and Tanya Aguiñiga focus on representation and cultural narratives.  

- Street & Urban Culture – Barry McGee highlights graffiti and tagging as an art form.  

- Playfulness & Humor – J.G. Quintel’s animation blends real-life experiences with absurd humor.

- Experimenting with human emotion and connection, like Casteel.  

- Thinking outside the box and challenging artistic norms
