  • Yayoi Kusama
  • Acky bright
  • Ashleigh Izienicki (Missupacey on ig)
  • Sarah (SVV.art on ig)
  • Roy Lichtenstein
2.What were 5+ themes the artists about making work?

  • Obsession
  • Dark and macabre
  • imitation and mass production
  • relationships between past and present
  • Exaggerative

    3. What were 5+ challenges the artists faced in making their work?

  • Family disapproval
  • Others stealing art and being claim as their own
  • Getting their work to be recognized
  • Getting sales
  • Getting their work out in a Male ruled art scene.

    4. What were 5+ inspirations you drew from the artists?

Roy Lichtenstein I knew about since I was in high school and I loved his bold outlines and pop art. I always wanted my work to have that too it always made me feel like my work was more refined and clean. I didn't know about Yayoi until I was in college and I was struggling heavy on if I could even be considered an artist. the work I was making at the time heavily represented what she would do and it gave me hope that I could become something. Her attention to colors and line work is so beautiful and how her work could just consume you in such a beautiful way is something I always admired and hope to portray in my work as well. Acky bright, missupacey, and svv.art are artists I came to know for only two or three years now and I love detail and time put into their work. I love missupaceys attention to the dark and mystical characters and making them her own which is something I gravitate towards when creating. svv.art is more portrait focused but not in a realistic way its very exaggerated eyes or lips and I love the cartoony and playful feel of her work.

    5. What were 5+ things you would like to incorporate into your own work after watching these videos?

  • I couldn't say I'd want to incorporate anything in particular to my work from watching the videos, but I could say I did relate to things the artists said. I found my own artists that inspire me on instagram and just from other findings because I really couldn't connect to the artists on art21. Christian Marclay said he felt intimidated by the incredible knowledge and years of practice of other artists. I resonate with that because I feel the same way and know there's so much to learn and I have to dedicate a lot more time to my craft. I also loved when Aliza Nisenbaum saying she rather make something more open-ended so it can have meaning to herself and to others. Yayoi Kusama is someone who works on her craft from dusk til dawn as they said in an interview and I want to be that type of person as well.
