Bio
Nicole Corvi is a 23 year-old multimedia creative born and living in the suburbs of New Jersey. With nearly a decade of experience working with clay, she is currently studying at New Jersey City University working towards her B.F.A in ceramic art. Corvi serves as an instructor for weekly adult ceramic classes, relaying her love and knowledge for her craft onto others. She also owns her own business on the side as a dental jeweler.
Artist Statement
There is comfort within melancholy; there is romance in heartbreak. With my artistic practice, I am drawn to channeling this interplay whilst creating non-functional wheel-thrown ceramic vessels and analog photographs.
My elegant ceramic forms are calculated to serve as decorative objects. The surface work to them is often adorned with rugged elements. I often use sculptural additives, such as faces with sad expressions. I will also utilize untraditional glaze chemistry to mimic decay and mold. I use photographs to capture the deterioration of delicacy. It is my hope that these creations resonate as a reminder of the beauty that can be found by embracing the full spectrum of human emotions.
