Growing up in Cuba, I was
surrounded by the creative energy of my father, who painted with both passion
and precision. His artwork instilled in me a quiet appreciation for the
creative process, but it wasn’t until high school that I realized I could be an
artist. What began as a simple credit-filling drawing course turned into a life-altering
discovery. It was my high school drawing teacher who saw something in me beyond
the surface, recognizing my potential. His encouragement sparked a fire within
me, guiding me toward the incredible world of graphic design.
For me, the creative process is
both intuitive and deliberate, a balance between experimentation and careful
examination of form, color, and texture. I believe that art is not only a
reflection of the world, but also a way to engage with it and transform it. My
inspiration comes from the world around me, the way people engage with art and
how art can be used to impact the world.
In my work, I strive not only to
express my own ideas but also to foster a dialogue between the viewer and the
piece. I aim for my work to allow for multiple interpretations and personal
connections. I invite the viewer to look beyond the surface, engage with my
artwork, and find meaning in the space between intention and perception. Every
day, I fall deeper in love with what I do. As I continue to learn, my horizons
keep expanding because graphic design is a field where you never stop learning,
and that is what makes it so beautiful.
Inspired by the fusion of Cuban and
Dominican culture my lastest project strategically showcases “Merengue”,
a Cuban-Dominican restaurant and lounge designed to make the community feel at
home while immersing visitors in the passion of both cultures. The design
elements are inspired by both Cuban and Dominican traditions. While “Merengue”
is a Dominican music genre, in Cuba, it is known as a homemade delight. This
restaurant incorporates stylized musical notes to symbolize its rich musical
and dance heritage, complemented by vibrant colors and warm tones that evoke a
sense of warmth, sweetness, and hospitality.
