2/13/25 - Beshoy
2/13/25- Interview: Le’Andra LeSeur by Ksenia M. Soboleva / BOMB Magazine
LeSeurs work is inspired by the body as a vessel for experience, just a record of moments and emotions. “ I always say that I believe we die every day. What I mean by this is that parts of ourselves have to be released in order for us to grow, evolve, and continue becoming who we’re meant to be. But those parts that are released don’t necessarily go away. They are still with us. It’s just a matter of how we integrate them into who we are becoming as we continue on our journey”.
I can compare my work to LeSeurs in a sense because my work consists of the motion and emotion of the body. My focus is sports so when I photograph a game, it's not just to only get some cool action shots, but there's so much meaning or emotion behind every photo. Sometimes it's a semi-final or final and a lot of the players worked so hard to get to it, they give it their all. They put their emotions on their sleeve and play the best they can. What spectators see is another instagram post but what I see is the story behind every photo because I'm seeing it happen in person.
Either it's through movement, emotion, and or perspective my goal is to capture the heart/soul of the Athletes I shoot. My main gear that I love to capture these moments with are, the canon r3 and the 1dx with the 70-200 or the 300mm lens. These help me capture the moments from almost every end of the field. I would have the 70-200 for close up shots and my 300 for farther shots that you normally couldn't get.
