post 3 leseur interview and readings on art forum - fatima flores

what inspired leseur was through body and language. her creativity stems from that, how, we, as people  communicate and absorb through the language, how it travels through our bodies and that it was inspires her to make art with various mediums. my creative inspiration, it’s different from le seur, it comes from other artists, how people make art, whether it’s original art or fanart, it’s what gets my creativity going; it also keeps me focused on making one art piece instead of discarding it and starting over.

the use of having my materials, the way i think of ideas and make them into reality, the process of my artwork strengthens my work because my ideas are mostly inspired by other artists. my aesthetics do change a lot, but i try to stay consistent with just one. while i do need room for improvement, my inspiration makes me want to be consistent with art, use more mediums, keep with my art style, etc.

what is your favorite museum?
my favorite museum is my own artwork i have hung on my wall, at home. it’s silly, yes, but i look up at them everyday and think “i’ve grown so much, throughout the years and i wish make my little museum bigger, wider.” also, i’ve never been to a museum

have you ever made a choice that was influenced by someone’s feedback or critique?
- yes. i am all about everyone’s feedback/critique. my artwork isn’t perfect and i like hearing feedback, in order to improve my artwork. it makes me a better artist.

is there an exhibition that had a lasting influence on you?
- yes, but it was a small one. at the community college i went to, there was an exhibition of ever students’ artwork. every art piece was inspirational, admiring and creative.

what do you think your influence has been as an artist?
- my influence has been mostly animated movies/shows and caricatures. that influence, changed my art style tremendously, i’ve learned so much throughout the years of being an artist.

what is your favorite artwork?
- one of my favorite artwork is by ‘tacos al pastor’ by camila salinas (sorry, i keep boasting about her. her artwork is just fantastic.) the realism painting is mesmerizing to look at, even the caricature she painted in the background. it’s make the painting more unique.

is there an experience that influenced you to become an artist?
- when i was younger, my pre-k teacher handed out a piece of construction paper and crayons, told the kids to draw and i was having a blast. it’s something i’ll cherish for the rest of my life; drawing became an influence for me, years of improvement and i’m still learning.
