What inspired LeSeur?
LeSeur is inspired by the human body as a source for various mediums like colored lights, and screens. She is also inspired by her personal experiences and her identity as a black, queer woman. Her work shows how she feels physically and mentally through the use of her own body.
What motivates me to create meaning:
As a graphic designer, I am motivated by the end goal, which is how the viewer reacts and engages with my designs. My work is built on the feelings I want them to have while also having fun when interacting with my designs. Feedback is always welcomed from people with various backgrounds. I need to know that this feeling is consistent with not just graphic design students, but also computer science, english students and more. Critiques from professors are also helpful in bringing meaning to my work because their words come from places and times that students and friends haven't yet experienced.
How does your choice of material, process, aesthetic, content, etc. reinforce your message?
My choices in colors, typefaces and shapes are extremely deliberate and dependent on the message I want to give for a specific design project. My designs are clean and legible. Outside of those main components, I experiment with layouts, the composition and graphic elements to ensure interactivity with the viewer. It is important to me that the viewer has some kind of emotional or intellectual connection with my work.
