Le’Andra LeSeur by Ksenia M. Soboleva

    What inspired LeSur?

LeSeur is inspired by the relationship between the body, language, and perception, using color, light, and movement to explore identity, grief, and joy. Her work reflects deep emotions and personal struggles, encouraging viewers to sit with discomfort and transformation. By engaging with silhouettes, color theory, and performance, LeSeur challenges how people perceive themselves and others, emphasizing the power of acceptance and change.

What motivates you?

Similar to LeSeur, I want to explore deep human emotions in my work, using art to provoke reflection and transformation. As a graphic design major, I constantly think about strong emotions and feelings through color, typography, and imagery. My goal is to challenge viewers, encouraging them to confront discomfort and ask difficult questions. For me, art is a powerful outlet, an expressive space where I can channel my emotions in the moment, allowing myself and others to engage in meaningful introspection.

How does your choice of material, process, aesthetic, content, etc. reinforce your message?

I work traditionally and digitally, with my creative process heavily fueled by my emotions and motivation. The pace of my work often depends on how I feel since I constantly jump from project to project. I’ve been exploring different artistic styles and gravitated toward a minimalist gothic approach because it best represents my aesthetic and the emotions I want to convey. This style is a powerful way to express our darker emotions. My work spans a variety of content, including illustrations, album covers, posters, websites, and game designs.

Of course, I get feedback all the time, I will admit I have to do better with receiving it though.

Create what you like and fuck what anyone thinks we're all going to die anyway.
