The meaning and message of my work are still evolving, and in many ways, I embrace that uncertainty. As a graphic designer, I am constantly exploring new ways to push beyond aesthetics and into the realm of meaningful storytelling. While design is often seen as a discipline rooted in structure, functionality, and visual appeal, I seek to challenge that perception by infusing my work with deeper conceptual narratives. In the traditional education of graphic design, there is little emphasis on conceptual exploration, and yet, I have found myself naturally drawn to breaking the foundations of design to create something more impactful.
One of the clearest examples of this is my BFA thesis project: Glo Society, a beauty brand that exists as both a branding suite and a cultural movement. The idea behind this project is to challenge and redefine traditional beauty standards by rejecting Photoshop, unrealistic model types, and the curated perfection that dominates the industry. Even brands that claim inclusivity often fall short, subtly reinforcing outdated ideals. Glow Society goes beyond surface-level inclusivity; it is about radical self-acceptance, a brand that empowers individuals to embrace their natural beauty rather than masking it.
Through my work, I want my audience to feel both captivated by the visual aesthetics and deeply connected to the message behind them. My goal is to create work that is not only pleasing to the eye but also thought-provoking and culturally relevant. I imagine my work being received as a bridge between strong visual design and meaningful artistic intervention; an invitation for people to question norms, reflect, and engage with the messages I present.
Ultimately, my work aims to accomplish more than just design for design’s sake. It seeks to create conversations, challenge societal expectations, and leave a lasting impression that goes beyond aesthetics. While I may still be uncovering the full depth of my artistic voice, I know that my work is driven by the desire to blend concept and design in a way that is bold, expressive, and unapologetically real.
