Post 4: The message/meaning of my work- CTF

 The message/meaning behind my work:

"If it makes sense to you, then it makes sense to me." This was my first artist statement because I truly had no idea what to say. Later, I realized that people loved it, and this statement still holds for me.

I have learned that when I make work, I leave space for those witnessing it, to put their meanings into it, and connect with it. I am an artist who puts pieces of myself into their work, whether it's a self-portrait, things I like/connect with, or small ties that would only make sense to me. But overall at the end of the day, I want the viewer to connect with it, in any form they choose- even if it means hating it.

Within that creates a connection, through my work you connect to the artist, taking your likings and feelings, and placing them into the pieces.

A moment of existing in the same room at the same time.

I also leave space for myself to feel about the work, I'll place things I don't even fully grasp, figuring it out as I go, so the viewer is not alone in this journey.

My work and how it may tie to my meaning:

1. "Junior Decay", 2024, Procreate
This piece was due to feeling behind and stagnant in my work and life.
Something many artists and humans in general have felt before.

2. Sketchbook, 2023, Mixed Media
This piece of my sketchbook gave you an insight into my mind at the time. I was in the Njcu alliance, obsessed with Across the Spider-verse, and was learning gouache. Maybe you have liked similar things.

3. "Blueberry Muffin" 2024, Photoshop
They are a team, one bakes while the other puts together the ingredients. One can't exist without the other in this home, not to mention the cat- they are support.

4. "Family", 2023, Ink and Gouache
This was including the people I love into my work, capturing them in the moment and even having fun with my family dynamic.

5. "Ideas" and "Four of pnetcales", 2025, Gouache
This was more tied to people I know and my own emotions, maybe lilies have a different meaning to you.
