Post 4 Message\Mission - Francis Troy

  1. What is the meaning, idea, and message of your work?

    1. If I had to choose a meaning for my works, I would equate my through line with my works as the human experience, how we interact with time and the physical world, and how the world imparts itself upon us.

    2. The idea behind my work is to use my embankment of life experiences and visual knowledge to make art that has meaning that can be defined by the individual, something to be experienced and deciphered as opposed to be looked at and told what you are looking at. Just like life circumstances, the answers of my work are present, but not apparent.

    3. A message that tends to permeate in my works is the idea of transience, the ephemeral state of the presence and consciousness and how we must come to grips with such a strong concept in reality.

  2. What is a problem in the world that your work helps to solve or a story it helps to tell?

    1. If there is a problem to solve, or a story to tell in my work, i assume it to be in sharing the marching of time and the presence of change and entropy. Each day that passes is a day gone forever to the past. But each day of the present is a new day to define yourself and utilize your freedom of consciousness to shape your reality.

  3. What is important to convey in your work?

    1. An important thing to convey in my work is the feeling of a contemporary moment. Most art is analogous to imagery. Images are able to convey emotions, events and context for those who were not present for the subject matter, or as a reminder for those that did experience the subject matter. My work achieves a similar process, conveying fictional events and happenings that can be understood through the visual process

  4. How do you want your audience to feel?

    1. I want my audience to feel a sense of change and melancholy when viewing my art. Witnessing what is, and what things and moments used to be.

  5. How do you imagine the work will be received?

    1. I imagine my work will be received at face value. The intention is to have some contemplation while having a sense of familiarity when discussing the passing of time and entropy.

  6. What does the work accomplish?

    1. My work accomplishes introspection and thoughtfulness in any viewers that will take witness to it.

  7. Explain how the examples of your work included in the post might fulfill this mission(s).

‘Planets of the westward galaxy’

This image conveys my mission by depicting a fictional solar system, helping viewers think more about our planet and the little space we inhabit in the grand scheme of the universe

“Undead ascension’

This work is to depict a being escaping an underground casket, effectively reversing the experience of life into death, while the colors and visuals depict something more sinister happening in the background.

‘The Trio’

This work depicts three of my pets hanging out in the entrance way of my home, the colors used give this work an ephemeral, dreamlike depiction of the scenario

‘Summer vibes in your bones’

This work depicts several skeletons enjoying themselves in an abstract beach scenario. This work using skeletons shows the temporary status of us as living creatures, comparing that to the temporary time we have on this planet to enjoy ourselves and explore our autonomy.

‘Rain in lagoon’

This work depicts rain coming down in a high foliage lagoon area, depicting rain, as something that comes and goes quickly in our reality.
