Beshoy- Artist Statement and BIO

Artist Statement:

Beshoy Erian is a Photographer who explores the emotion, motion, and unspoken stories within the world of sports. He's currently working towards his BFA at NJCU in  Jersey City, NJ.  As someone who didn't grow up in a sports oriented environment, he uses the lens as a bridge that connects him with the intensity, and passion that define athletes of all different kinds of ages. From elementary school games to professional matches, his work consists of capturing motion and emotion equally.

His eyes tend to grasp moments that often go unnoticed, a quick glance between a few teammates, or a coach's reaction, just the raw focus on the athletes faces throughout mid game. Through vibrant colors and different perspectives, he aims to show the audience a version of the sports games they watch on tv in a different way. He wants the photos to feel alive, to pull the viewer into the moment and make them feel the energy through the image.

Overall, his goal is to tell stories that go farther than just looking at scores. He wants to highlight the human side of the sports, they're not just entertainment pawns that people bet on and watch. Most of the people he photographs brings something unique to the frame through my work.

My BIO:

Hello my name is Beshoy Erian, I am a Photographer based in Jersey City, NJ who primarily focuses on digital photographs as mediums. My work consists of adding a lot of motion and emotion through sports based events. I shoot many sports from bowling all the way to football and from Elementary all the way up to professional Sports. Most of my work consist of very vibrant colors and add alot of perspectives showing the sport in ways the audience wouldn't be able to see, using a variety of lenses help me to convey this. My equipment consists of 3 different lenses, from the close 24-70mm lens to the 70-200, and even the 300mm.

Alot of my excitement comes from the experiences and the energy I get to see and feel throughout the events I shoot. In my line of work its hard to be unique but what I think makes the experience unique is meeting the different people I photograph and all the different kinds of stories they have that you don't usually see through just one image. What inspires my work is growing up in a household that wasnt very keen for sports, I use my work as a way for me to connect to sports and people that are highly motivated to succeed in that sport. When you see the passion through the game, it makes you feel like you want to strive for more.
