Post 9- Artist Statement and Short Bio Draft- Brianna Pacheco

Artist Statement

I am both a traditional and digital artist. Although all of my work is done traditionally. I feel in my element when I am simply using a pencil on paper. To me, that is the only way that I am able to precisely control the strokes of the lines. On the other hand, if I wish to color a piece, I prefer to do it digitally. It is easy to swap colors or undo an action if a mistake occurs.

My work primarily focuses on the fantasy genre. It fascinates me to be able to depict something that does not exist in the real world, especially when my imagination is always developing worlds that differ from our own and would never realistically occur. It is a blank canvas full of possibilities to be built up on. My goal is to create immersive worlds with compelling storylines and diverse characters through art.

My process is first creating a sketch of what I want to draw. This usually involves having multiple references. The sketch may either be first drawn with a col-erase to lay the groundwork before using a pencil, or just be done with a pencil. Sometimes I choose to ink the line art. Most of the time, this is where I stop working on the piece. However, if I want to color the piece, I take a photo and insert it into either MediBang, Procreate, or Adobe Photoshop to work on it further.
