post 10 (official) artist statement + bio - fatima flores

 artist statement

i am a multimedia artist, one that works with oil paint, charcoal, pencil and a tablet. i do enjoy taking my time with my pieces, even if they art still lives or my character designs. the process of my art pieces start slow. in order to create paintings and drawings, i first determine how to arrange real-world elements on the canvas. similarly, when i draw with a pencil and paper, i strive to arrange the human body in a way that makes me feel proud. every one of my creations, whether it's a digital sketch for me or a painting from a class, has a purpose. my work is influenced by my personality and interests; i'm bold, self-assured, and reserved.

my interests is what makes me a unique artist. i’m influenced by caricature art styles and i developed a caricature art style, along the way. i enjoy creating fictional characters and drawing cartoon from shows. the way i create art, starts slow. i try to determine what i want to create, so i lay out thumbnail sketches of what i want to draw. i also grab references from different sites or on social media and go from there. i enjoy creating characters that mean a lot to me, i want people to know that there isn’t a perfect artist, or a perfect art style, but being yourself, is what makes a good artist.
