Hopinka uses his medium of choice to piece together clips that flow into each other and have some system or logic that allows the audience to enter into the realm of what the videos are.
What inspired him to use video is his learning of the language Chinuk Wawa.
• What material/medium/process do you use and how? What inspired you to make your work that way?
The medium I use depends on how I want to create something, but I mostly use pencils and sometimes like to use charcoal or digital materials. My process is looking up references for poses or items regarding my idea for a drawing. Then, I create a basic sketch and make sure that everything looks correct before adding the details that I want. Afterward, I erased the sketch lightly and redid the line art without all the sketch lines to show the finished work.
